Digital Alarm Clock

Most of the alarm clocks I have ever bought have been the digital kind. A digital alarm clock might be what wakes you up every day as well. They used to look pretty much the same way back when, but today they are as different as you can imagine. Most of the digital alarm clocks I have owned have come to an early end, but it is never the fault of the clock, it’s the human element that brings about their untimely demise. You may laugh, but it’s almost as if I have a curse, and probably should not buy a digital alarm clock at all. I should stick to the alarm on my mobile phone, or perhaps just hope I wake up in time. It seems there is always an element of human pain involved when my clock bites the dust. It started in college with my first digital alarm clock, and has followed me through life.

My first digital alarm clock cost about five dollars, and I bought it to take to college with me. Because my roommate and I had to get up the same time everyday, I stopped using mine and we both woke up to hers. A friend needed a digital alarm clock, so I let him borrow mine. I’m not sure what happened, but it involved a girl and a drop from a balcony. He says it was an accident, but I’m not so sure. The digital alarm clock some how flew out the window and shattered at the feet of a girl who had just dumped him. She ended up getting cut by the shattered plastic.

The next clock I bought also came to an early end. This time, I’m not sure who to blame. My brother was using it. His bed was low, and the end table next to it was higher than his head. According to his testimony, the digital alarm clock went off, and when he reached up to hit snooze, his arm got tangled in the cord. When he pulled his arm down, the clock hit him on the head. That clock too went out the window.

I won’t bore you with the rest of the stories, but lets just say three more have met a similar fate. It is a good thing that I am self-employed and have a youngster to wake me up each day. I just can’t use a digital alarm clock any longer, though my husband does. It’s an expensive one, but it only works half of the time. I think it’s just waiting to come to my side of the bed. I’m keeping my eye on it.
